Desalination
The process of desalination is the one that separates molecules of water from the
diferent salts that are intimately joined together, requiring an energetic contribution,
that can be supplied in form of heat (thermal processes), or work (power processes).
It is said that good quality water, and therefore appropriate for human consumption
(previous elimination of organic and biological contents), when its total salt
content is no larger that 0.5 g/l; in the case of crops, and in general, water with
a maximum saline content of 1 g/l results acceptable. Brackish water is that which
has between 2/10 g/l. Sea water has around 35 g/l.
OSMAQUA equipment performs the process of desalination by inverse osmosis,
the most reliable technology and the one with the best energetic performance nowadays.
Membrane modules are the basic unit of the filtering system. The modules contain the
membranes with their structures as well as the necessary flow conductors.
